Summer 2022 Update

We’re open for new admissions, planned individual visits, but no communal activities!

Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus pandemic health emergency, we have had to reduce our communal activities program. Normally this time of  year would be a hive of activity with a wide range of seasonal activities but at the present time we are limiting activities to small groups.  However, it is great to be able to use our lovely gardens, which the residents and their visitors always seem to enjoy

We are constantly monitoring the situation and acting upon guidance received from the governing bodies such NHS, Public Health England, Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and Care Quality Commission (CQC). As soon as we are in a position to increase the range of activities that we can safely provide and the numbers of residents who can attend these at one time, we will of course do so. Until then, it has to be safety first for all concerned.

Please click on the latest guidance for visiting arrangements in care homes for the up to date advice from the government regarding visiting in care homes.

We have  been operating a safe visiting policy for a number of months and we are fortunate to be able to use The Conservatory and adjacent rooms as a separate visiting hub so that visitors do not have to enter the main part of the nursing home to see their loved ones.  Arrangements can also be made for in room visits to those residents who are unable to come to the visiting hub area.

However, like all care homes, visiting is still very restricted and is by booked appointment only.

Please contact us if you would like a copy of our visiting guidelines or indeed any information to do with our COVID-19 policies during the current pandemic.

Over the course of a year, we normally have a wide-ranging variety of activities. Just click on the links below to look at what happens during a typical year.

Remember to keep an eye on the Notice Boards around the home for all the details of each week’s scheduled events

There’s never a shortage of activity in our community at Sunbury Nursing Homes. The schedule on the left shows what we’re celebrating this month as well as other scheduled activities. We try to have a variety of events going on through the year as you will see from our Social Care & Activities page and our Year at Sunbury Nursing Homes publication.

Since the start of last year we have had various activities going on as detailed on the attached monthly plans.

Apart from these resident centred activities there are always improvements going on within the home.

over the last couple of years, we have:

  • replaced all the windows in the Main Building  and repainted the front section of the building;
  • completely upgraded the water and central heating system in the Main Building;
  • completely refurbished the ground floor of West Lodge so the Conservatory and Bistro areas look like new;
  • installed a Silent Roof to the Conservatory minimising noise disturbance and glare;
  • completely refurbished The Morning Room in Weir House for use as as meeting and training room;
  • completely refurbished the Reception area in the Cottage;
  • completely refurbished the Montford Lounge in the Johanna Wing;
  • converted four bathrooms into lovely new dementia friendly wet rooms;
  • converted two small toilets in each of the Norman, Johanna and Marion Wings into large assisted, wheelchair friendly toilets;
  • refurbished Norman Wing Rooms 8,11 and 12, Carmel Wing Room 2 as well as Johanna Wing Rooms 2 and 4;
  • landscaped the garden at the rear of the Marion Wing with the assistance,  and to the design, of Mrs Hemus’s daughter,  Lizzie Bowen;
  • installed a new automatic door to the lift end of the Main Building to make it easier to access the gardens;
  • replaced all the laundry equipment with brand new machines and cleaning system;

There are also more plans in the pipeline. It’s fair to say, there’s never a dull moment!
